RAW ……….. Community Support

November 18, 2010

One of my Daughter’s friends sent this to me and I would like to pass it along!

Cythera House a wonderful program for Woman and children…As Raw Fitters, we have created a wonderful community together let’s share this with others!

A human being is a part of the whole, called by us, “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security. Albert Einstein

Here is the letter from Mel:

Hello everyone,

This year, my family is taking a trip to Punta Cana, and have decided that rather than celebrate Christmas, we would like to give back to the community. I did a lot of research, and decided that I would like to give back to the CYTHERA TRANSITION HOUSE. I am inviting you all to join me in this cause to make Christmas a bit brighter for women, children and teens who have experienced trauma or abuse, and may not otherwise be able to celebrate this holiday seasons I recently talked to a coordinator of the Cythera House and she gave me some excellent ideas:

Gift Cards (any amount, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Clothing stores, etc)

Movie Passes (You can get awesome deals at this time of year at Cineplex)

PAJAMAS (all sizes, mainly for women, and teenage boys and girls)

Hat/Scarfe sets

ANY USED CLOTHING (come’on, if you havent worn it in a few years, give it to someone who will!!!)

I will be more than happy to come pick up any donations you may matter how big or small, every bit helps. I can also take money donations, and will put it towards giftcards.

Also…Any girls who have a grad dress: Are you EVER going to wear it again? I am taking donations for the CINDERELLA PROJECT, for teen girls in the Lower Mainland that already know they will not. At graduation, every girl wants to feel like a princess—make this a reality for girls who cannot afford a dress.

Thanks so much for your time, I look forward to making this Christmas one to remember,

Thank-you Mel, you’re a true young inspiration!

Any donations, please bring to class this new session, I will be happy to give the items to Mel!
